Your Tax Money At Work...or...Obummer Stimulus?

Former Democratic Congressman William Jefferson, convicted on bribery and racketeering charges and sentenced to a Congressional-record 13-year sentence, recently received a couple of significant holiday-season gifts from Judge T.J. Ellis III.

Recently, Judge Ellis decided that Jefferson is not a flight risk and may remain free pending appeal, a process that may take a year or more. During that time, Jefferson must wear a monitor and may not travel without prior court approval.

Today, Judge Ellis agreed that Jefferson’s legal expenses will be covered by the court during his appeal. Jefferson and his wife recently filed for bankruptcy, due in large part to the legal bills incurred during his trial.

Admittedly, Jefferson might have problems paying for new legal bills out of his Congressional pension, estimated to be $40,000 to $55,000 per year. Then again, once he’s incarcerated, he won’t be shelling out a lot on food, clothing or shelter.

Trial Judge T.S. Ellis III Friday OK’d the appointment of Robert Trout and Amy Jackson, two of the three attorneys who represented Jefferson almost from the first day the federal investigation of the nine-term New Orleans Democrat became known on Aug. 3, 2005, with raids of the then congressman’s Washington and New Orleans homes.

Their fees will be covered by the court, though the rates will be similar to those provided public defenders and far less than the prominent white collar attorneys generally charge.

Ellis also said that a transcript of the eight-week trial, which the court reporter estimated would cost $26,000, will be paid for by the court.

If You Contact Your Senator...

If you contact your Senators...why not tell them to VOTE NO! And, then give some SOLUTIONS...

Vote NO on the current bill and start over...suggestions:

Number one: let families and businesses buy health insurance across state lines;

Number two: allow individuals, small businesses, and trade associations to pool together and acquire health insurance at lower prices, the same way large corporations and labor unions do today;

Number three: give states the tools to create their own innovative reforms that lower health care costs; and

Number four: end junk lawsuits that contribute to higher health care costs by increasing the number of tests and procedures that physicians sometimes order not because they think it's good medicine, but because they are afraid of being sued.

No, I don't think they care, and here is a good reason...

Ronald Reagan On ObamaCare….

Almost 50 years ago, Ronald Reagan spoke about the evils of government-run health care under the banner of a campaign called Operation Coffee Cup.

Reagan said; "One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine."

Reagan described the movement to impose statism through health care as a "threat" that was "imminent."

Here's what Reagan said:

"The doctor begins to lose freedom.... First you decide that the doctor can have so many patients. They are equally divided among the various doctors by the government. But then doctors aren’t equally divided geographically. So a doctor decides he wants to practice in one town and the government has to say to him, you can't live in that town. They already have enough doctors. You have to go someplace else. And from here it's only a short step to dictating where he will go."

Reagan continued:

"All of us can see what happens once you establish the precedent that the government can determine a man's working place and his working methods, determine his employment. From here it's a short step to all the rest of socialism, to determining his pay. And pretty soon your son won't decide when he's in school, where he will go or what he will do for a living. He will wait for the government to tell him where he will go to work and what he will do."

Reagan closed by telling us the price of not taking action to stop this threat:

"And if you don't do this and if I don't do it, one of these days you and I are going to spend our sunset years telling our children, and our children's children, what it once was like in America when men were free."

Reagan had a talent for getting to the heart of the matter and his words are as true today as they were back then.

This so-called move to radically change our health care system by putting the federal government in charge has nothing to do with making health care more accessible, more available and more affordable.

It's more about the desire of politicians in Washington to impose greater centralized government control.

All Americans must continue to make their voices heard against this government takeover of health care. We must continue to fight, or the result just may be telling our children and grandchildren "what it once was like in America when men were free."

Remember, the vote on the motion to proceed could take place mere hours from now. The time to act is now.

In this picture with Tootsie and Titan, you can see where BlackJack got the really low tailset. Titan is his great grandsire and Tootsies dad. What makes BlackJack special, and a first, he is the first to have a long back and the longer legs with this build. That is going to make a substantial difference in cross country speed.

What I find pretty about him is he looks so god awful when standing. When he starts stretching out he is pretty.

I am going to put up a couple of pictures of BlackJack. He just turned 7 mo. This is a Magnum/Snake pup and I can prove it. There is no sighthound in here.

I can't wait until he gets over the puppy clummsies but even with them, I do believe he will be hard to beat. Going across an open field you can see the stride. It will be interesting to see what his endurance is like when he matures out some. The other dog is Palin.
