Here's an update on Bravo. I got an e-mail from the assistant trainer, saying that once Bravo settled in, he is a "wild Man". So, Bravo is not acting shy. Today he is going to a club session. I'll be waiting for the email report on how he acted there.

Laura, If Butch is unfamiliar with Airedales, you might suggest that they mature slowly. I never like making excuses for this breed, so I'm not, but as a bit of information...
The payoff is a dog like Lucky Boy hitting hard at 10.

He does not push a dog before it is ready. I take my time too. I have a question, if anybody's interested in answering. Bravo tends to assess a new situation, stand back and observe new things before reacting. He doesn't run, but he doesn't approach either. He simply observes, and then he reacts, normally by going forward to whatever is going on. Do you think this has any implications toward a dog having it a good or bad Schutzhund personality? Laura

I definitely need your input on this one. Here is the input from the assistant trainer: "After about 10 minutes, he got more comfortable and started slowly approaching people and take hot dogs from them. He was ok if he was the one who approached the person, not the other way around. After awhile, he did start to approach people who he already had hotdogs from onhis own without them encouraging him or luring him with food and he let them pet him all over. His tail finally started coming out and wagging towards the end as well."
So, based on this should I reach any conclusions about Bravo's ability to work in Schutzhund? Is he a washout?
Thanks for your input, Laura
