It has been a long time since I have posted but I figured I would vent to you all a bit. I had to put down my Tinker dog yesterday due to tumors . Last year I had her fixed because she was having problems. Well it spread though her body. I never was able to gt pups out of her and that is why..
She was out of my old Cully Dog ( Cajun / Boss Lady ) and a dog out of Oddon Corrs dogs ( Turtle Peak Jack ) . She was a pleasure to be around and hunt with and we had great times and to many great hunts to count. She was a hard chop little tree dog and would rig out of the truck...just a great little dog all around. Her coat was hard a a wire brush and even growed out would not collect burs. She did not have a mean bone in her body but would tackle any none dog animal her very life depended on it . She was also great at teaching young dogs good manners, she would tune them without it being a big deal .
I already miss her badly and I know I will miss her most when the season comes and she is not there to go with me ...I hate the thought of it . She knew when I was leaving to hunt or just leaving . When she knew it was time to go she looked like a cartoon dog ,bouncing around in circles hardly moving her legs ,just stiff legged bouncing. I could also tell as far as a light could see eyes that it was her by the way she ran and the bounce of her eyes.Tinker was a little girl warrior, she always seemed like a pup in her personality but could handle her business as well as the best of them...
Mr.Henry Johnson always told me the first and foremost these dogs are family members and that their main job is companion. After years of owning them and having a few go I would agree 110% on that.. She was my kids favorite dog and they spent hours a day playing with her, all of them by the age of two would put her on a lead and walk her around and around the yard for hours at a time, she just did it even walking carefully . And how she made my life better is to much to talk about. In the last 8 or so years and though this .....recession/depression we have seen some tough times . I have been badly injured ,sick, and knocked around.. No matter Tinker was consistent in an uncertain time. After a bad day I would go to the yard with her and say her name, she would bounce around me popping her jaws like a little bear...pure joy every day of her life ...that is the energy she put out there ...just pure happiness.
I will miss her for a long time and so will Riley ( my other Airedale) , he spent sometime looking for her last night. We will both miss our little girl for a long long time. Time is with out a doubt a thief and it takes good animals way to fast.
I hope you all are doing well . Taylor Johnson..
