Answer From David Jones.....
At the most I would get a couple of dogs and hunt with someone who had a pack. It takes a lot of time, dedication and money to run a full pack . I have access to about 200,000 acres for hog hunting maybe more . As long as you respect a landowners wishes and rules the hog hunting is endless. Unfortunately a lot of hog hunters are outllaws so they give everyone else a bad name.
I usually hunt just to run them off our good game areas for a limited time and theres nothing like watching a pack work. You never get used to the idea that when you go out not everyone will come back. I make no excuses for that, IN FACT I like to see my dogs go out in a blaze of glory rather than die of heart failure or cancer.
I was at afriends house the other day and his wife had his two hunting dogs so fat that she brought their hunting lives to a premature end. NOW I CALL THAT CRUELTY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you want dogs go to the dog pound thats where I have got my best dogs .
It saddens me when I let myself think about all the great dogs that get put down everyday. At our pound they put all
the dogs in cages in a room and back a truck up and connect the exhaust to the room.
One of my best all time dogs Lucky was in the room when I sprung him hence the name Lucky.
Now you tell me whats the cruelist to BE gassed in your prime or to run the prairies and river-bottoms for years doing what adog should do. Then at the end having your jugular cut out by a monster hog and in 30 seconds you are gone as the life flows out of you.
Unfortunately not all hog dogs people look after their dogs properly giving the rest of us a bad name.
HELL I MIGHT HAVE TO GO TO THE POUND TOMOMORROW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
