We need a West coast version!
Washington, Oregon, Cali, Montana, Alberta - any of those states/provinces would work.
No point to have it in BC (or Vancouver Island) as there just isnt the Airedale population to support it.

A West Coast version would be brilliant! For many years Dorothy Miner lived in California (when she got the VST on "Jeef" out of Elliot's stuff. She held a H/W committee test in California, but she moved and it fizzled out. The H/W committee would help on either an ATCA H/W test for titles, a workshop on what we do, or a demonstration of what we don't do (protection/big game/etc.) or any and all of the above. As Ron pointed out, what Don does is illegal in NY, PA, NJ GA, and many other states. Running dogs on live game is verboten. I'd galdly come witness this in a state where it's legal and several committee members, equally curious, would certainly come if time allowed them to plan. I host and participate in events in my area. If you build it I'll come, if you need plans, I'll send some. Dave Morgan

Alberta, a pro-hunting province has the "High Altitude Airedale Club"
www.compusmart.ab.ca/airedaleclub/
They already host an annual "Airedale Fun Day" which showcases activities that ADT's participate in. They say they get 30 Airedales out to the fun days.
Is it a big-leap to get them to host a H/W Weekend? I realize that it's in Canada, but just think, it's cheap to visit Canada!
I also realize that this is an ATCA H/W Committee sponsored event and you would most likely like to keep it in the USA. This is where I see the benefit of NAWATA - a North American association. The way I see it, the ADT needs help on both sides of the boarder. The ADT Club of Canada does not have a H/W Committee that I am aware of.

Since this thread was started by a reference to the Justamuc people, Well, I have to tell you, I've trained with a few world renowned trainers in my day in Schutzhund and Disaster Dog work. I put Hal Standish (Justamuc) and his wife Nancy right up there. They have a feel for dogs that I've rarely seen, and they are sympathetic to the Airedale and have a profound understanding of our breed. Hal can read a dog better than anyone I've ever met and I've given him a few challenges with the gamut from Turk to Madonna to Lucy. And Nancy has shown me unique ways of handling with each dog (they are very, very different). Hal knows just when and how to push a dog into new territory so that it will be successful. Quite frankly, I would travel across the world to have the opportunity to work with the Justamuc folks . Maugh

Maugh, Are there going to be "Airedale" training weekends this year, 2007, at Justamuc? Please advise. Phil (Hal's) postings are most informative, interesting and helpful. And, Yes, I would love to come even though I'm in Nevada. Keep up the good work with your dogs you are doing a great service to the ADT breed. I love my ADT, she hunts about anything and she and I sure would benefit from a training weekend. Jackie

I'm pretty sure Hal holds workshops for all breeds on specific weekends throughout. hwc.airedale.org/HW2007.htmFrank

Training is a year round process here in Michigan. yes There will be an Airedale hunt test and workshop offered in August.. Frankie gave you alink to the dates. This year there may be some changes to the format. Those changes would be based on the number of Dales participating. we may try an allbreed approach to the upland testing process depending on entrys I would like to hold numbers somewhere around 25 dogs entered in the 3 levels of testing JH, Sh, and Master.. This years test will be held on our new grounds for the land work, Which should be exciting, it's a wonderful venue Hope you can make it
