I'll third that. Good to see some numbers that don't start with 0's.

I sure hope we get to see some of these dogs at the nationals in Oh. I sure would like to see some airedales work their magic. Any going to be in Oh so I will know who to watch for?

I'm planning to take Teddy. At least for the workshop. Not sure if he'll be ready for the next level as we're going to concentrate on increasing his drive and hopefully get some wild birds this season. I've been cautioned that training to steady to flush can hamper their hunting drive for a while. Teddy is just over 7 months old and I don't want to push him to the point of making it no fun for him. He's a quick learner though and if we get some enough nice training days in January and February (Michigan) maybe we'll be testing in spring I'd also like to start getting him to use his nose to mark squirrel trees for me, but that's another thread

Frankymee, have you run Teddy in any of the levels of the fur test yet? That woulkd be doable I would think without hampering his desire. I would think it would be good for his desire. The Jr Fur is a cake walk as I understand it.

Madonna proves a master level dog can make up for a bad shot. The first pheasant flushed. The gunner shot before I took this picture. Notice the bird looks pretty good here. Madonna patiently waited for her retrieve command, the bird ended up on the other side of the pond in jungle like under growth. After five minutes of rooting through the under growth and swimming through the pond twice Madonna returned wet and triumphant. Good girl!

Hey Hey Grat photo's Frank..Thanks Though it was not a shot made by the rt Wing gun.. It was a properr shot for the Master hunt test.. As a handler I dream of those kind of shot placements for my dogs in Competion. Why you ask?? I'm glad you did!! I want me dogs to be tested to max in front of judges and gallery I never want just a routine retrieves to show off my dogs ability.. As we say in the spaniel game ride'em out till there no tommorrow and lets see what and how me dog handles to situation.. I would really chew on a gun that gave me a retrieve that he could walk over and pick it up just as easily as the dog. In fact I have call me dog off such retrieves and ordered the to gun to pick up his own "short balls shot" And did even say please!!
When you get dogs to the Steady to wing and shot stage distance of the fall is also critical..I would expect meat hunters to understand that theory but in building world class dogs it happens here in training eevry day.. Madoona has had tough deals than that retrieve to deal with and she will have tough one than that in the Future.. Just to she had a 75 yd mark on a little biity dove ..she made look easy. Any way keep helping teddy to be the best he can be. Give me a call some time and we will see how that littlle dog is growing up Hal
