Hello Ed, I spoke with Lothar a few days ago - he had just tested Gismo in VPG3 - the result was quite nice: 90/98/100
Gismo didn't find 1 object on track

Curt there is no title requirement for breeding. My observation is that there is a subset of German Airedales line bred on titled dogs and the larger population of show/pet types that are not.As the pedigrees show on eu Dogs this line breeding has been recorded for more than 10 generations
The working dogs originated in East Germany and you will find DDR on their more distant relatives. Morgenstern and Abendstern kennels come to mind and you will see these in the background of almost all the working Dales.
I don't know what the Index numbers mean. Question for Stew Or one of the German board members.
Following the pedigrees is interesting. Two very strong dogs Cay von Eschen and Lucky Boy seem tightly bred. Cay is the result of half sibs breeding.
BTW Blaze last VPG # score was 100 in protection.Letzte Prüfung DVG MV-Herbern 90 98 100
Training but you got to have the horsepower.

They have 3 different levels for dogs allowed to be used for breeding: Base level is ZZL (Zuchtzulassung) - breed permission. This puts mostly requirements on the dog's look and health. It also includes a simple mental test. Next level is ZZP (Zuchtzulassungsprüfung) - Breed entrance examination. The demands are a little higher than in ZZL. Highest level is 4 different Körung levels: 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b Here is a link to KFT Airedales page, where all this is told (in German): www.airedale-kft.de/Zucht/zucht.htmlAnyway - nothing of this tells anything of the dog's quality as a working dog. Have anyone any info of Gismo's mother Lady Lucifer? I saw her in year 2000 at Jalomonis and liked her very much
