Got my DC 30 and LOVE IT. What a damm relief to not have to worry when my pup go'es off on a 5/10 minute jaunt into the brush... I just stand there looking at the little screen and it tells me 'how far out', if he's running, treeing, crapping e.t.c. It's MAGIC...Tells me how much ground he has covered and at what average speed. Farthest he has gone 'so far', is 640 yards and he usually covers about 5 miles (in an hour) at an averige speed of 7.23 m.p.h. Wonder how ground a hound covers on a long lion chase...

That sounds like a slick unit Mike. Seems to tell you a bunch of interesting facts and that I like. Wish they were legal here becaise I would be tempted to trade you my Wildlife for it. ;D Now, how fast can you cover 640yds if he gets into trouble? lol

I use one and have 3 collars .. I love it especially the way I hunt.. I'm not to sure how fast they go but I know its not that fast if they are cold trailing and if they jump it its faster or it better be..
One of the things I like is you can down load the tracks onto your computer. I have topo maps on my computer and I can see exactly where we went and how far it, helps you learn the country better and also helps figure out patterns of travel..

That does sound like a sweet unit. Have they finally come out w/a shock collar w/the Garmin? I've been waiting for that for years. That is exactly what I need,- the ability to shock & track in one collar. Cowboy- that's a great feature w/the trail downloads. It must be beautiful up there. New Mexico has the prettiest skies I've ever seen.
Anyone want to buy a Tri Tronics Trashbreaker 3 dog unit w/a 2 mile range? Used once or twice. I paid $700 for it but would give a great discount. Previously & still I had a 2 unit Dogtra for the dales w/ a 1 mile range. Awesome collars used now & used hard for 5 yrs & will light up a charging cow, lol. So I added a dog & bought the tri tronics 3 dog trashbreaker but never liked it & wanted to get a Dogtra 3 unit, but was waiting for the Garmin attachment & I'm still awaiting... So needless to say I want to sell this so I can buy a 3 unit Dogtra for fall.
Or anyone know of a good site to sell this? Thanks & cheers,

I also bought a Garmin DC30 this year and I love it as well. I have not used it under a heavily-leafed tree canopy on a cloudy day to date but it seems to receive a much stronger signal in any conditions compared to the older GPS units I have used. Everyone seems to be saying the same thing. It is worth every penny. Finally, GPS for the dog(s). Dan, I put the DC30 on the dog first and then his training collar. He has had no problem with the extra weight even as a 6 month-old puppy.

How's your new pup? He's going to have some huge shoes to fill after Forge. He was one of the greats. cheers,

Thanks for the kind words, Dan. I miss Forge. My pup is coming along nicely. Right now he is in Montana at bird dog camp. I plan on meeting him there shortly.
