Hello everyone. First off I'm a very novice dog handler and can't really offer any help on the forum, but I love Airedales and appreciate everything that is shared here. I owned my first and only Airedale roughly 6-7 years ago. I bought the dog out of Arizona and her and I hit it off big time. Tickle "Tick" grew up on my small ranch here in Texas chasing and destroying rabbits, skunks, possum, and the like. Literally she would put her front feet on one end and clamp down on the other end, then tear the screaming varmint in two. Not exactly a bird mouth on her. But, we had good time, sometimes getting on a coyote or a hog. Then one day I got a phone call saying my ex wife's dog had been shot and Tickle was missing. I rushed home and found Tick laying in the front yard with a hole in her ribcage the size of a saucer. Later I found she had been shot with a. 223 varmint load at about 25 yards by my mentally disturbed neighbor. The fact that she was still alive is a testiment to the toughness of these dogs. She barely even whimpered and still wagged her tail when she saw me. It broke my heart and just now am I getting a renewed interest in owning an Airedale. So here I am, hopefully I'll find another one to own me. Thanks for all the info. Happy holidays to everyone. Dave Merryman. Attachments:
