Board is down and out but thought this might be intersting. Had a small wager on whether that funny breed "airedale" could do a reeeeeal loooong Blind Retrieve. Kasbah has one leg on AKC Master Hunter and Blind Retrieve means sending a. Dog to retrieve a bird it has NOT seen fall. Bird planted 10 minutes earlier and then I was told roughly where the bird was.Lady kneeling to left had planted bird, and was a temporary distraction. Handler is permitted to give whistle, voice or hand direction. used a single hand direction after you see her pause at my voice. m.youtube.com/watch?v=2DptaIkiVHM&feature=youtu.be

Thanks we had a great time.Airedales have lots of capability both in water as retrievers and upland as bird finders With training it all comes together, one caution they are or at least mine are hard mouthed. Got bumped in an AKC test when Kas caught a rooster on the ground and it began beating her with its wings. She brought it back limp,no blood or mussed feathers but was still DQed,rule book says bird must be presentable and fit for consumption...but judge clearly wasn't used to Airedales or hard girls like this one.

yea these Airedales seem like a lot of fun. Do you still have Brisco? From what i saw and read about him he looked like one heck of a dog. Doesn't seem to be much activity of this board any more. i have two little staffordshire bull terriers right now. Will be looking to get a family protection dog. Im torn between getting a nice Airedale and a Dutch Shepherd.

Brisco is 14 1/2, time flies and yet he is still spunky, but has lost some hearing. Eye sight mobility still good, retrieves morning papers, keeps yard clear of moles and plays frisby every afternoon. Kas has taken over as Pack leader, and some time jostles the old boy. Both are food hounds,I keep him slim, think its added to longevity

PS I've had some experience with Dutchies, great dogs, super for police service and IPO,my opinion a real good Airedale close in IPO, but ahead as the proverbial " all rounder. If you are into hunt stuff no contest, but you need to be picky,Ive done lots of Airedale puppy testing, using Vollhard and NAVHDA protocols. There is a real BIG range between dogs called Airedales.
