I see that I missed reporting that Butch's Jiggs is 35 lbs, which is the largest Jagd I have heard of. Also, the Jagds that I have had are slash fighters: more slice and dice, with a lot of LOUD aggressive bay (totally unsuitable for suburban midnight forays! ). The Patterdales I've had are more like pit bulls: much quieter or even no bay at all, and go for a lethal hold and then crunch! One of my last Patterdales, Lady, was a very effective suburban raccoon killer -- silent, no sparring, hit the raccoon at full speed, go all out for the throat, clamp mini-pit jaws on throat, dead raccoon. " I can't imagine taking on a mama bobcat in her den would be a good idea either. "
Years ago there was a film clip of a pack 0f hounds that had a bobcat bayed up in a hole in the rocks. They all stood back and bayed. Then the airedale appeared and stuck his head down in that hole and drug that sucker out and put and end to that nonsense. The Bambi lovers apparently had a fit over the clip and it just disappeared.

Just my luck a day late a dollar short. I Really would like to try this cross on coyotes. If anyone knows where I could get my hands on a dog crossed like this. It will get hunted almost everyday.

I heard the Hide Terriers are good first generation then loose something if bred to other Hide dogs rather than the cross. From what I read is they used a female Airedale all the time and to me this is the possible loss of traits. Why they didn’t use male dales I don’t know. This was off a website and the kennel is located in Germany. To me both parents give 50% of the genes, but if you only breed male Jadg to female dale it would be hard to establish a breed. Again this is based on what I read fron one site and my own opinion. On a different note some guys were saying that the pit butt was all bulldog and no terrier was used to make the breed. They got this from thebook written by Stratton. I say the terrier, probably several were used to make the pit bull. I have been around both terrier and pit from my teens. Pit bulls have terrier eyes, expressions and body language. Another think is intelligents, the only other bully type dog that I know of with intelligence is the boxer. Again just my opinion and my reasoning for it.
