Has anyone on the board had success with training both hunting, namey upland flushing and PP (SchH or other)? Where did you start? What are the margins between conformation and performance lines, if any? I have seen a couple of dales work but my knowledge of the breed in general is pretty weak. Looking for a dog that can make a strong showing on the protection field, not nearly drown on a retrieve like my malinois, and flush grouse from the rhododendron. Thanks

Lacy, you may want to check out the hunting, working, and retrieving section of my web site. The address is www.huntingairedales.com The pup doing the protection training is 8 mo old HC Curtis. His father, Hunter, an be found in the hog section while his half brother, Buck, can be seen in the retrieving section. Enjoy. There are also many other good sources on this board.

Like Mike D said get an Airedale. They can do both and a lot more. I agree with him on fur too.

Lacy, I agree a well bred Airedale should have the right stuff to do both.
