Bravo showed in Novice B this morning. Bravo never got the luxury and opportunity to attend any matches before his shows due to being involved with service dog training. So, he's had a lot a learning to do at his first few shows. The show today was huge (in an Expo Center). There were a lot of noises, big crowds and an echoing hall. Bravo is in a nearly ready show coat. Unfortunately, most dog exhibitors or the general public can't appreciate the effort that has been put into his coat. This was Bravo's third all breed show. He is getting the hang of it and his tail was wagging quite a bit. Between exercises he seemed to have a lot of fun as his tail was wagging hard. Bravo seemed distracted at the beginning of the on lead heeling, and needed a couple of double commands. That seemed to do the job and he did an excellent job of off lead heeling. He was rocksolid on the stand for examination. Then, he came on a full run on the recall. He did the best finish he has d she one in his life, flipping to position as the command was out and sitting perfectly. The sit and down stays were as rocksolid as his stand. He qualified and got his first leg! :-)

Laura, That is just great, glad to hear your Airedale is doing so well. Congrats. Dales are great show dogs in terms of their lightness of foot, they are like dressage horses. I was interested in how you have worked with Bravo to get such a good sit/stay, especially with distractions around. Thanks, Jackie

It's true, a good tight sit- stay was not the easiest at first. It took having him do it in a variety of situations and just being vigilant about quickly responding to put him back in place as soon as he got up. Vigilance, vigilance! :-)
