As we all know, Geronimo was crossed to Pete's greyhound on my word that Geronimo was fast....very fast. Now considering that I am kind of a hermit, tucked away in the mountains of central Ca, I don't get to see a broad selection of airedales. Yes, I have been around a lot of them but they have all been mine, pretty much, so this may leave some room for doubt as to how fast Geronimo may be .....and righteously so. A person recently had the opportunity to observe Geronimo's brother when he put the pedal to the metal. I am going to tone this down a bit, but I am bringing this to light because this person has had the opportunity to observe a lot of working airedales, and to reassure Pete. Something I have not had the pleasure of doing. This gives more weight to his opinions than mine carry. What he said in the condensed version is "Fast!!!! Dang that dog is fast. Whooie, if Geronimo is faster than this dog, I hope adding that greyhound blood doesn't slow him down to much!!! ;D At the next coyote hunt those coyotes are in BIG trouble!!! " Now, that is pretty much what I heard and if the other party doesn't wish to respond with a correction, or opinions, then we will let it stand as related to you.

I sure have high hopes for the little porkies! It'll be some months before we have a good idea, and 2 or 3 years before they hit their prime. I got a call today from an old coyote hunter from Texas wanting to do some horse trading to get one, and he has been hunting coyotes all his life, along with his grandfather, father, and all his uncles. Seems he hadn't heard of Don's "Stagdales" before, and is real interested in acquiring one now!
When is that next coyote hunt planned for?

This is from earth dog running dog. What do ya think? I don't know Don. That picture just doesn't look right. The lighting is kinda weird don't you think? Then the hound looks like she is running with her eyes shut! Actually, her head looks like a dog with his head hanging out a car window. The right front foot is just about to make contact with the ground as the dog is about to be right on top of that foot. She should be reaching with that foot, not propping herself up with it! Also, I see little, if any muscle definition. Compare with this photo: Or one with less muscle definition: The rest of the photos posted on that particular posting on EarthDogRunningDog site looked OK. This one just strikes me as strange, or a really good Photoshop composite.

He doesn't seem to be really reaching does he. If memory serves, this is a picture of a pretty young dog because he had some other pictures posted when he was younger. Looks pretty well boned but I don't think he is putting the hammer down either. The pics you put up the dogs look like they are moving out but they do have great definition and muscle tone. I would like to see this dog when he is older and putting the hustle on. I will have to see if he has the age and cross posted.

Pete/Don, I bet those Geronimo /Sheba pups will smoke a greyhound pitbull x. -1/2 vs 1/2. Hands down. How many bulls go 27-28 inches high with that much stride and open frame w/out wide chests and bow legged front quarters slowing them down? Geronimo probably has 1-2" heighth and length on Apache, and Apache can fly...and Lenape has a loping stride that just eats up acreage w/ease, it seems nearly effortless. It's a beautiful thing to watch Lenape just glide, but Apache is beautiful to watch when he's got something in his sights, he's explosive, and he really straightens out and flattens out when he runs. But, it's totally neck to neck on who's faster, because Lenape is a giant Titan, which makes him less rangy but more muscular. You couldn't have found a faster airedale to breed to, that I have ever seen, but I bet Hunter and Geronimo will throw some bigger faster boys in the future... It might have been tough to find any non longdog breed faster than Gery to breed, that is...and one that can hunt, trail, killer jaw, etc....? I can't wait to see those pups run, that article you posted i believe stated that on a first cross if you get one that has the greyhound build, those dogs are often unstoppable and unbeatable as runners and killers... You could potentially w/Don's line produce a dog that could be like the old world scottish staghounds or wolfhounds with brains and terrier charm...

Hi Dan, Apache is Geronimo's littermate so he is undoubtedly a runner. Lenape is Titan/Indian Maid. Hunter and Titan are 1/2 brothers off of Winchester and Indian Maid is a Hunter/Bailey offspring. Geronimo and Apache are Hunter/Bailey offspring. To put it simply, Indian Maid is Geronimo and Apache"s littermate......bound to have put some stretch in that Titan.LOL
