Was goin down the road yestiday and spied a dead coon, jammed on the brakes and ran back and hoped nobody saw me runnin to my truck holdin it by the tail with a big smile on my face. Don't see many coon in the Arizona desert! I took it home and Jake was barkin at the gate, shook it in his face and he got real fired up, Then I put him in the house and made a drag with twists and turns and ended up about 70 yards from the house. I brung him out and opened the gate, the wind was blowin in his face about 15-20 m.p.h. I stood back to observe and he sure fooled me.. Instead of followin the track, he ran in a direct line to where the critter was, almost like he saw where I placed it. Well dang, how did he do that ? Obviously he scented it in the wind, but how did he know EXACTLY where it was, I guess he has already learned to pinpoint objects by reading the scent in the air. Well, next time we'il see just how smart he is, I'm going to pick a day with no wind and lay the track alot further, I was goin to lay out pieces a cheese like Don said, but I'm not trainen him to find a deli...
