Hello everyone, I do work with sheep and goats sometimes as a herder sometimes as a hunter of predators. I am interested in trying an airedale because they are claimed to be versatile it would be nice to have a dog you can herd with and use for tracking off a fresh kill. Save time from having to call in the hounds to track and the borders I use just wont trail. Does anyone know of anyone doing this? I am not interested in BMC's although they might fit the bill a little better. It might take me a while to get back as I only get to the computer when I'm at the ranch
Thank You Karl

Two Airedales have been posted on this board as having herded cattle. Don't know if sheep and goats would be different. As far as tracking off a fresh kill some of the other guys could probably answer that.

my young female tries to herd chickens but she is a little rough and would have to imagine she would be the same with goats but they are very intelligent and could probably be trained to be quite adequate at anything it just may tke longer but if you have trained border collies for her to watch she would probably catch on pretty quick
