hi every one form S.E. K.Y got a ? about Airedales as hunting dogs I all ways heard they were used as catch dogs and were not used to track but i have find a few times people use them to find things like coyote and fox that had drag off traps so for you all that use them for fur hunting how would you say they do as tracking dogs also anyone who use them for coyote and fox how do you work them do you run them with hounds for a catch dog or do they track them alone i have read of them taking coyote and fox both and was just wonding

Just saw your post KY. I used dales for years on hog and bears but never used hounds with them. They got great noses. Most telling is when one of the posters crossed one of my dogs with a sight hound. A bear hunter got one of the pups. The sight hound gave the dale the speed to stay well in front of the hounds on bears and the nose he got from the dale was good enough to keep him well in front. By nature I would say they are a winding dog, but, it is pretty easy to breed them into more of a tracking machine.

thinks man the reason I was asking we are getting were we need a good dog to take care of stuff like coyote fox and other things that kill our livestock have you ever heard of anyone use them for coyote that is the big one we have trouble with
