Joe
The mother is my Dobermann.
Here is a quick vid of her:
media.putfile.com/dog-parkourThe following will give you a good idea about her:
“DoberDale” hybrid litter born Dec-9- 2005
Both super solid parents bringing “vigor” to the mix.
Why hybrid?
1. Offspring expected to have a better coat than either parent breed.
2. Breeds are complimentary in color, general appearance and function.
3. Both are proven police/military breeds.
4. Each breed although great, have extreme traits that will be tempered by the mix.
What does each breed bring to the mix?
Airedale/Dobermann:
high fight drive / high defense drive
high prey drive /high prey drive
high hunt drive/ good hunt drive
abstinence/compliance
stoic/sensitive
very good endurance/ extreme endurance
great body power/explosive straight line power
natural protectiveness/ natural protectiveness
aloof, yet tolerant /aloof, yet tolerant
outstanding agility/ outstanding agility
protective, easy care wire coat/short, easy care coat
There are huge similarities in these 2 breeds
along with a couple strong differences. The intent is, for those
differences be leveled out or tempered.
For example…the Airedale is somewhat stubborn.
That’s actually a good trait, but it can hinder training. The Dobermann is a very sensitive and compliant breed. Its sensitivity is not a weakness, but it makes for a more clingy dog. Combining willingness, with hardheadedness can create the best of both worlds. A willful dog that is also willing to work with you is a great combination.
Police & military have used both breeds extensively. The Airedale, although utterly effective, has been passed over, due to the difficulty in training this breed. The Dobermann blood improves upon this problem.
The Dobermann has lost favor for a couple of reasons. 1. Its coat is too sparse for real work 2. finding Dobes with enough fight “drive” is difficult. The Airedale improves upon both of those weaknesses.
The parents of this breeding are both involved in the following:
Protection, agility, utility, water rescue, upland hunting, dog sledding, draft, recreational weight pulling, Frisbee, back packing and more.
The mother {Dobe} has many SchH titled dogs on her father’s side. She has 0 dog aggression.
Although the Dobe’s defense testing has not been exhausted yet , she has shown strong defense since 6 mos of age. Her prey foundation is solid. Very deep, genetic, full mouth grips. Exposed to jugs, hoops, tape, whip, clatter sticks etc. Very happy, confident dog. Extremely responsive to commands. She does EVERYTHING at 200%. If a hurdle is 4ft high she jumps 5ft high.
The father {Airedale} is a proven Personal Protection dog and has participated in PSA. “Bear” has been tested and worked on soft sleeves, hard sleeves, hidden sleeves, suits and in the muzzle. He’s been worked on all sorts of surfaces and is tolerant of distractions.
The Airedale was very high in dog aggression, but through a little training, works on the hunting field and protection field w/o showing any dog aggression unless challenged.
Both parents are solid to gun fire, flooring and strange environments…including working in 100yard long underground tunnels! We routinely play tug on trampolines and tractor trailer containers.
Both dogs are excellent swimmers {yes the Dobe can swim!}
Both are exuberant, natural retrievers and dock jumpers.
Both dogs are very clear in the head and tolerate anyone we say they should. Both dogs are excellent with strange children. Both dogs are structurally correct and exemplify their breeds.
Puppies are being reared in the US Military’s SUPERDOG program.
